What is a health cash plan?

A healthcare cash plan lets you claim back costs of routine dental, optical or physio treatment and more – with the idea that you claim back more than it costs.

Why choose a cash plan?

A health cash plan is a simple solution for covering everyday health expenses. Continue reading to find the ins and outs of health cash plans and how they could benefit you.

So how do health cash plans work?

Each HSF health plan consists of a range of schemes. A cash plan allows you to spread the cost of your healthcare simply and easily. You (or your employer) pay a premium for the scheme that suits your requirements, then you claim cash back for your treatments as and when you need to. Either you or your employer will pay a monthly rate, allowing you to cover up to 100% of your health expenses, over a wide range of benefits.

So, what are the benefits? Are cash plans worth it?

There is a range of reasons a health cash plan could benefit you (or your employees as a workplace benefit). Here are just some of them:

  • Proactive, not reactive: a health cash plan allows you to be proactive instead of reactive when it comes to your health and well-being. What do we mean by that? Well, for example, it means getting a health screen before you start to feel pain in your back, or dental checks before you need a filling. It’s great for preventative healthcare.
  • Prioritise your health: a lot of us avoid seeking solutions when something doesn’t feel quite right. A health cash plan empowers policyholders to take health into their own hands, without worrying about cost or extra effort.
  • Cover pre-existing conditions and costs: unlike most health insurance schemes, you’re also able to cover expenses you had before you sign up for a scheme. Let’s say, for instance, you have been paying for contact lenses for the last 10 years – this is a cost you can get reimbursed!
  • For the family: HSF health plan can also cover the costs of healthcare for spouses or partners as well as children (up to the age of 18) at no extra cost.
  • Wide range of benefits: health benefits available include optical, dental, and GP expenses (for Ireland and Malta policyholders), chiropractic, homoeopathy, acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy and chiropody.

Personalised support for employers and employees

It can be easy to confuse employee benefits as a ‘tick boxing’ exercise, causing you to explore the booming market of digital health apps. However, when it comes to ensuring your employees are taking advantage of their benefits and understand exactly what is available to them; an app alone isn’t always the best option.

So what makes HSF health plans different? We only enrol organisations and businesses that are within the UK, Ireland and Malta. Once you have partnered with us, you’ll be assigned an account executive in your area – meaning we’re able to come to your workplace and hold in-person presentations and workshops. Your Account Executive is there to ensure your employees make the most out of the cash plan, and you’re getting good value as an employer.

A charitable organisation

HSF health plan is the trading company of The Hospital Saturday Fund. We work with organisations in the public, private and charity sectors in providing its health cash plan schemes as an employee benefit – but unlike other forms of health insurance, our schemes are very low cost.

All the profits made from our health cash plans are passed to the Hospital Saturday Fund charity, which celebrates turning 150 years old in 2023 and has awarded millions to medically associated charities and individuals across Ireland, the UK, and Malta.
